Technical event roles: stagehands, riggers and AV technicians
Looking for event work or assembling a crew anywhere in Europe — from the Netherlands and Belgium to Germany, France, Poland, Spain or Portugal? Start with the actual tasks: building, installation, operation and dismantling may need different people.
01
Stagehands, stage building and site crew
Stagehands support loading, unloading and setup. Stage builders, scaffolders and site crew handle specific structures or site installations. State the materials, work phase and supervision needed. A broad stagehand description should not silently include specialist work at height or machine operation.
02
Rigging and work at height
Describe the rigging assignment separately from general construction: ground support, work at height and supervision are different responsibilities. Agree who leads the work and which current documents the site requires. A profile skill level is not an operating permit or a safety approval.
03
Sound and audio systems
Specify whether you need installation support, an audio technician, a front-of-house or monitor engineer, or specialist system work. Include the equipment, work phase and handover. Experience with one sound setup does not automatically establish experience with every console or system.
04
Lighting installation and operation
Distinguish lighting technicians who install and prepare equipment from desk operators who run the show. Name the console or control environment when relevant, and describe rehearsals and show times. A clear description lets a specialist judge whether to respond.
05
LED, video and projection
Explain whether the task concerns LED assembly, signal setup, projection, playback or operation. Include the equipment and expected result rather than only writing “video technician”. Specialists can describe several disciplines in their profile without being presented as interchangeable.
06
Power, intercom and event networks
Power distribution, intercom and AV networking need their own scope and responsible specialist. Describe the systems, interfaces with other departments and required handover. Choose the matching role in your profile or posting, then describe the experience and location you need.
